The Centre is set to present the Waqf Amendment Bill on April 2, which aims to reform the administration of Waqf properties. The proposed bill has triggered heated debates across political parties, with the BJP accusing the opposition of misleading the public about its intentions. In contrast, opposition parties have pledged to block the bill, labeling it an unconstitutional move that threatens the integrity of Waqf institutions.

One of the key provisions of the bill includes the introduction of non-Muslim members in Waqf boards, which has become a point of contention. Additionally, the bill seeks to empower district collectors to resolve disputes over Waqf properties, a change that has raised concerns about the centralization of authority.

The Janata Dal (United) (JDU) has voiced concerns over the retrospective implementation of the amendments, cautioning that such a move could create legal challenges and impact the existing administration of Waqf properties.
