In anticipation of the 67th Mahaparinirvan Day commemorating the esteemed humanitarian Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on December 6, 2023, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Public Relations Department has announced extensive plans for food distribution at various locations, notably Chaityabhoomi and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan (Shivaji Park).
With expectations of a significant gathering of followers from Maharashtra and neighboring states, the Corporation aims to facilitate a well-coordinated food distribution effort on this solemn occasion. Social organizations eager to contribute to the cause are invited to submit their proposals for food distribution to the Assistant Engineer Maintenance Department and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan (Shivaji Park), Police Thane (Mumbai) by December 4, 2023.
Assistant Commissioner Shri. Prashant Sapkale emphasized, “Proper planning and implementation are crucial elements for this endeavor. Interested organizations and responsible individuals must inform the Municipal Corporation’s designated department and the Shivaji Park Police Thane to ensure seamless coordination.”
The Municipal Corporation, under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shri. Iqbal Singh Chahal, and Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr. (Mrs.) Ashwini Joshi, has arranged well-equipped civic services and facilities at various key locations, including Chaityabhoomi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan (Shivaji Park), and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s residence, Rajgruh.
On Mahaparinirvan Day, food distribution is scheduled at four locations: M. M. Pinge Chowk, Raja Bade Chowk near Trophy Hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan, S. H. Paralkar Marg (near Vishnu Nivas), and Padmabai Thakkar, in front of West Side. Organizations and individuals participating in the food distribution are urged to adhere to the submission deadline and the outlined procedures for an efficient and organized distribution process.
Efforts are underway to ensure controlled vehicular movement for distribution and effective waste management during the operation, ensuring a dignified and well-coordinated event to honor Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy on this revered day of Mahaparinirvan.
