Mumbai: The potential threat of a third wave of Covid-19 still looms large on the horizon. It is argued by the authorities that the infection will spread due to the increased crowds due to festivals. In order to control this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has emphasized on its new mission of  ‘Early Test, Treatment, Discharge’.

Due to the number of festivals starting from the month of August people are stepping out of their homes which has again increased the chances of spread of the disease rapidly in Mumbai. Also, a large number of people travel in and out of the city during festivals.

Currently, the number of people coming to Mumbai from outside has increased, to have control of the situation BMC after its emphasis on ‘Early Test, Treatment, Discharge’ and also set up 266 testing camps in all 24 wards of the city, where citizens can get themselves tested for free. RTPCR tests are being conducted in the testing camps.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Municipal Commissioner (AMC) Suresh Kakani informed that a team of volunteers has been deployed to survey the people who are coming from other states or cities. Kakani also appealed to the people to encourage those people who are coming from other cities in getting themselves tested.

Therefore, testing is done before symptoms appear as per the three principles of ‘Early Test, Treatment, Discharge’. Treatment is initiated by immediately admitting the affected patient to Covid Care Center. If the tests and treatment are given in time, the patient goes home early and goes home safely.

“The possibility of a third wave has led to an emphasis on ‘Early Test, Treatment, Discharge’. In addition, tests have been increased in crowded places. People should voluntarily come forward for tests at the nearby testing centre, so that they and their family can be safe,” said AMC, Suresh Kakani.
