BJP’s Gaurav Bhatia Slams Tejashwi Yadav for “Anarchist” Stand on Waqf Bill, Says He’s Undermining Supreme Court

New Delhi: The political battle over the contentious Waqf Amendment Bill intensified on Monday, with BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia launching a scathing attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. Bhatia accused Yadav of showing disrespect to the Supreme Court by calling the legislation unconstitutional while its legal challenge is still pending before the apex court.

“We all know that this matter is pending in the Supreme Court, which has reserved the order. Why does Tejashwi Yadav have such an anarchist approach and why is he demeaning the SC? When the SC has not even pronounced a verdict, how can he claim that this law is unconstitutional? Has 9th fail Tejashwi Yadav become more important than the SC?” Bhatia told reporters in Delhi.

He further alleged that Tejashwi Yadav and his father, RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav, represent “Jungle Raj” in Bihar, implying their politics was rooted in lawlessness and disregard for democratic institutions.

Bhatia’s remarks came after Tejashwi Yadav publicly criticised the Waqf Amendment Bill, describing it as unconstitutional and discriminatory. The bill has faced challenges in the Supreme Court, which has yet to deliver its judgment on its validity.

Bhatia argued that Tejashwi Yadav was trying to stir unnecessary controversy and sow confusion among the public while the matter remained sub judice. “He is demeaning the judiciary and weakening public faith in the rule of law,” the BJP spokesperson asserted.

The Supreme Court has reserved its order on a series of petitions challenging provisions of the Waqf Amendment Bill, which critics allege infringe upon fundamental rights and the secular character of governance.
