‘BJP Will Get the Answer It Deserves’: Mamata Banerjee Exudes Confidence as Bengal Poll Battle Enters Final Phase

With the second and final phase of polling in West Bengal just hours away, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has delivered a strong message of confidence, declaring that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is headed for another victory and warning that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will face a decisive rejection from the people.

In a forceful appeal to voters on the final day of campaigning, the TMC chief said the people of Bengal have already made up their minds and that her party’s victory is now “only a matter of time.”

She asserted that “the victory of Maa-Mati-Manush is no longer a matter of prediction but a matter of time,” projecting confidence that Bengal voters would once again back the Trinamool Congress.

Mamata Targets BJP, Says Bengal Rejects Divisive Politics

Without naming the BJP directly at first, Mamata accused “divisive and destructive forces” of trying to damage Bengal’s cultural identity, claiming that the state would not allow its legacy of harmony and coexistence to be disrupted.

She described West Bengal as a symbol of peace, culture and civilisational pride, and said the state had no space for politics that threatened its unity.

Sharpening her attack, she said that “the BJP will receive the response it deserves,” suggesting that the electorate would reject what she described as the opposition’s politics of division.

The statement marks one of her strongest political attacks ahead of the final round of voting.

‘No Force Can Stop Bengal’s Development’

Mamata Banerjee also highlighted the development and welfare initiatives of her government, claiming that the Trinamool Congress has delivered benefits to people in every part of the state.

She said the state’s progress cannot be derailed by political attacks and insisted that welfare measures introduced by her government have become a protective shield for the people.

According to her, “the momentum of development has touched every corner of this state. No malicious force can halt it,” while adding that no one could take away the benefits people are receiving under TMC rule.

The comments are aimed at reinforcing the party’s campaign narrative that development and welfare remain its strongest electoral pillars.

Mamata Appeals for ‘Joraphool’ Vote

Making a direct appeal to voters, Mamata urged the people of Bengal to vote for the “Joraphool” symbol of the TMC to safeguard the state’s language, culture and progress.

She called on citizens across all communities to unite behind her party and ensure what she described as a “resounding victory” for TMC candidates.

Banerjee said she remained fully confident that the people would stand for development, peace and progress, as they have done in previous elections.

The appeal comes as Mamata contests once again from Bhabanipur, a seat considered crucial to her political prestige.

Massive Turnout Raises Stakes

The high-voltage political contest has become even more intense after the first phase of polling on April 23 recorded a massive turnout of over 93 per cent, indicating heightened voter mobilisation across the state.

The second phase of polling is scheduled for April 29, after which the results will be declared on May 4.

The BJP has already claimed that it is on course for a major victory, with party leaders saying they expect to win more than 110 of the 152 seats that have gone to polls.

TMC Dismisses BJP’s Victory Claims

Mamata Banerjee and the TMC have dismissed the BJP’s confidence as political posturing, insisting that the people of Bengal are firmly with the ruling party.

The TMC is aiming for a fourth consecutive term, and Mamata’s latest remarks suggest the party is determined to counter BJP’s aggressive claims with an equally confident message.

As campaigning ends and voting nears, the battle for Bengal has entered its most decisive stage, with both sides claiming momentum and voters set to deliver the final verdict.
