Patna Following the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday took strict disciplinary action by suspending senior leader and former Union Minister RK Singh for alleged anti-party activities.

RK Singh, who had served as Power Minister in the Narendra Modi government and was a former Union Home Secretary, had recently been outspoken about internal party matters. He publicly criticised several NDA leaders over alleged corruption and factionalism and questioned the Election Commission’s handling of law and order, particularly highlighting the violence in Mokama as a failure of administration during the elections.

Singh also urged Bihar voters to reject candidates with criminal backgrounds, including some within the NDA, such as Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and gangster-turned-politician Anant Singh. His forthright criticism and accusations against party leaders are believed to have contributed to his suspension. Party insiders say this move reflects BJP’s emphasis on internal discipline following the NDA’s electoral success while also underscoring potential dissent within the ranks.

In a related move, Bihar BJP also suspended MLC Ashok Kumar Agarwal and his wife, Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal, for alleged anti-party activities. Ashok Agarwal’s decision to field his son, Saurav Agarwal, as a VIP candidate from Katihar was seen as contravening party directives. Both have been asked to submit their explanations within a week, demonstrating the BJP’s strict approach to ensuring cohesion and discipline post-elections.
