The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Congress manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, highlighting alleged discrepancies and shortcomings within the document. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi pointed out what he perceived as a lack of seriousness in the manifesto, citing the use of photos from New York and Thailand.

Trivedi drew attention to the statement made by the Congress social media chairperson, who claimed to be unaware of who was handling her social media account. He emphasized the importance of transparency within the party, suggesting that such confusion regarding manifesto creation reflects poorly on the Congress’s organizational structure.

During his critique, Trivedi showcased a photo used in the Environment section of the manifesto, identifying it as being from Thailand, which he humorously referred to as the “favorite destination of Rahul Gandhi.” This remark was likely intended to underscore what the BJP sees as the disconnect between the Congress’s promises and its leaders’ actions.

Furthermore, Trivedi debunked claims made by Congress president Kharge regarding India’s manufacturing history, alleging that the statement was inaccurate. He pointed out historical achievements such as CV Raman’s Nobel Prize in 1930 and the establishment of the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru in 1909, suggesting that Congress’s narrative may be revisionist.

In contrast to the BJP’s criticisms, the Congress manifesto pledges various initiatives, including the right to apprenticeship, a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), and a proposal to amend the constitution to raise the cap on reservations for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). However, Trivedi dismissed these promises, labeling the manifesto as “Nyay Patra” (Injustice Document), suggesting that it fails to address the needs of all sections of the country.
