New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Sambit Patra on Friday launched a blistering attack on the Congress party, accusing them of jeopardizing national security by echoing narratives that align with Pakistan’s interests. Addressing the media, Patra said the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting’s outcome was more aligned with Pakistan’s objectives than those of India.

“From the outside, they are the Congress Working Committee, but from the inside, they are the Pakistan Working Committee,” Patra remarked, emphasizing his belief that the Congress was habitually aiding Pakistan’s agenda.

Patra continued his tirade, accusing Congress of consistently providing a lifeline to Pakistan when it finds itself in trouble. “Every time Pakistan is cornered, the Congress steps in to provide oxygen to its terrorists, its army, and its international image. This is not opposition politics. This is sabotage,” he stated.

Patra’s sharpest comments were directed at Charanjit Singh Channi, who questioned the legitimacy of the 2019 surgical strikes conducted by India in retaliation for the Pulwama attack. Channi had claimed that no surgical strike was carried out on Pakistan following the incident, an assertion that Patra argued could demoralize the nation’s armed forces.

“Does this not demoralize our armed forces? Does it not shake the confidence of the people of India?” Patra asked, adding that such statements by Congress politicians were an affront to the sacrifices made by the Indian military.

In the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack, Patra condemned the Congress for using a national tragedy for political gain. “When the nation is grieving, the Congress party is playing politics,” Patra remarked. He further quoted Channi, who had controversially claimed, “Bharat ne Pakistan ke upar surgical strike nahi kiya” (India did not conduct a surgical strike on Pakistan), to highlight the alleged undermining of national security.

Channi, who had previously questioned the authenticity of the 2019 surgical strikes, suggested that the government should take strong, decisive action against Pakistan. He expressed skepticism over the claims of the surgical strikes, questioning their veracity due to the lack of concrete evidence. “People are waiting for the so-called 56-inch chest to act. We want the government to respond swiftly and deliver results,” Channi remarked, referring to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He also raised doubts about the government’s narrative surrounding the 2019 Pulwama attack, in which 40 CRPF soldiers were killed, suggesting that no proof had been shown regarding the retaliatory surgical strikes. “But we have never seen where in Pakistan the strikes were done and where people were killed. If someone threw a bomb in our country, will people not know? They claim to have conducted surgical strikes against Pakistan but nothing had happened. Surgical strikes were not seen anywhere and no one knew about them,” he said.
