BJP MP Jayant Sinha Opts Out of Lok Sabha Elections, Focuses on Climate Change Advocacy

The former union minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP leadership for providing him with opportunities to serve the people.

Adding to the roster of party leaders stepping away from contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, BJP MP Jayant Sinha announced on Saturday that he has requested party president J P Nadda to relieve him from direct electoral duties.

In a social media post on X, Sinha, the MP from Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh constituency, stated his intention to redirect his efforts towards combating global climate change in India and across the globe. He emphasized his commitment to continue working with the party on economic and governance issues.

The former union minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP leadership for providing him with opportunities to serve the people. “I have had the privilege of serving the people of India and Hazaribagh for the past ten years. Moreover, I have been blessed by the many opportunities provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP leadership. My sincerest gratitude to all of them. Jai Hind!” he conveyed in his social media post on X.

The BJP is reportedly considering fielding new leaders for the upcoming elections, with some incumbent MPs also expressing their desire to focus on other organizational responsibilities.

Earlier on the same day, former cricketer and BJP MP from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir, announced his withdrawal from politics to prioritize his focus on sports, effectively opting out of contention for a Lok Sabha ticket from the party.
