Mumbai: Accusing Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar of corruption, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporators on Thursday have moved a no-confidence motion against her over allegations of irregularities in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The BJP has accused the ruling party Shiv Sena in the BMC of gross irregularities and failure to cope up with the Corona epidemic in the last six months from March 11, 2020 to date, with rising mortality, rising number of patients, inadequate health care system.

For this, BJP has demanded Mayor Kishori Pednekar to hold an emergency meeting. Four BJP corporators Prabhakar Shinde, Jyoti Alvani, Kamlesh Yadav and Advocate Makrand Narvekar have submitted a letter to the mayor in this regard. The letter is signed by four members of the Standing Committee.

“We have requested for an emergency meeting under section 36 (H) of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888, to move no confidence motion against the mayor,” said Prabhakar Shinde, BJP group leader.

“This House is expressing distrust against the Mayor, Mrs. Kishori Kishor Pednekar.” This is a one line proposal.

“The failure of the ruling party Shiv Sena in the BMC to cope with the Corona epidemic in the last six months from March 11, 2020 to date, there is a rising mortality, rising number of patients, inadequate health care system, inactive administration, apathetic administration and jumbo scam corruption in the name of Covid.” The proposal has been put forward by BJP, informed Prabhakar Shinde.

Meanwhile, Pednekar is said to be in home quarantine after she was diagnosed positive in the antigen test for Covid.
