New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to announce Delhi’s new Chief Minister on February 19, following a party legislature meeting, with the swearing-in ceremony anticipated to take place on February 20, sources informed India Today TV.

After a remarkable 27-year absence from power, the BJP secured 48 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly in the recently concluded elections. The party has shortlisted 15 names for key positions, including the Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, and the Speaker.

While the BJP refrained from naming a Chief Ministerial candidate before the elections, high-level meetings have taken place, especially after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return from the US, to finalize the leadership.

Parvesh Verma, who triumphed in the New Delhi seat by defeating AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, has emerged as a likely frontrunner for the CM post.

On the other hand, AAP faced a massive defeat, securing only 22 seats, with several top leaders, including Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, losing their constituencies.
