After continuous efforts of BJP corporators  for holding physical meetings of various committees of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday State Government has issued a circular which says that the meeting can be hold in person by abiding all norms related to the Covid protocol.

Last week also the standing committee meeting was held via video conferencing, afterwhich BJP corporators decided to file a petition amounting to contempt of court as despite court’s order, BMC administration and the standing committee chairman had not held the meeting in person.

While talking to ‘TheNews21‘, BJP corporator, Bhalchandra Shirsat said,  “After continuous efforts by us, fearing to petition amounting to contempt of court, the state government has issued the order to held the meetings physically”.

Earlier last week, with all required a letter from Urban Development Department (UDD) was sent to municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has clarified that even though the proposal of conducting physical meetings of the BMC and other corporation is under consideration, no decision in the regard has been taken so far. After which, BJP has decided to approach the court and file a petition for contempt of court.

On this standing Committee Chairman, Yashwant Jadhav said, “Now malls, theatres every thing has opened and state government had already declared that there will be more ease at the things which were closed due to the lockdown, so the decision of allowing for the physical meeting came now, BJP just wants to take credit of everything. The famous saying ” Begaani Shaadi me Abdulla Deewana” suits perfectly for BJP. In the coming BMC election they will be vanished from BMC”.

Leader of opposition in BMC and Congress group leader Ravi Raja said, “We welcome this the order of the government for holding the physical meeting as corporators were demanding for the same as we can voice our issues in the meeting”.
