“Calling PM a Terrorist Is a Crime”: BJP Moves Election Commission Against Kharge, Rijiju Demands Strict Action

A high-level BJP delegation led by senior Union ministers met the Election Commission of India in Delhi, accusing the Congress of using “derogatory and anti-democratic language” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanding immediate action.

BJP Delegation Meets Election Commission Over Kharge Remark

In a sharp escalation of political tensions, a senior delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday met officials at the Election Commission of India office in New Delhi, demanding action against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over alleged remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The delegation included Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, and Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, who jointly submitted a complaint to the poll panel.

“Calling the Prime Minister a Terrorist Is a Crime”: Rijiju

After the meeting, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju strongly condemned the language allegedly used by the Congress chief, calling it an attack on democratic values.

“Calling the Prime Minister a terrorist is a crime. No political party has ever used such abusive language against the Prime Minister,” Rijiju said.

He added that the BJP delegation had urged the Election Commission of India to intervene and take strict action, arguing that such language damages democratic institutions and public discourse.

According to Rijiju, the issue is “not merely political but national and democratic in nature.”

BJP Demands Apology From Congress and Kharge

The BJP has demanded that Mallikarjun Kharge and the Indian National Congress publicly apologise to the nation.

Rijiju said the delegation told the Election Commission that abusive remarks against the Prime Minister undermine democracy and cannot be treated as routine political rhetoric.

“We demanded that strict action must be taken and that Mallikarjun Kharge and the Congress Party apologise to the people of the country,” he said.

The BJP has projected the issue as an attack on the dignity of the office of the Prime Minister, attempting to widen the controversy beyond partisan politics.

Election Commission Assures “Appropriate Action”

According to Kiren Rijiju, the Election Commission of India assured the BJP leaders that it would examine the matter and act accordingly.

“The Election Commission, after listening to us, has said that they will take appropriate action. We have full confidence in it,” he said.

The response from the Commission has given fresh momentum to the BJP’s campaign against the Congress over alleged personal attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“We Will Finish All Terrorists”: Rijiju’s Strong Political Message

In a second sharp statement, Kiren Rijiju said that while the Congress was using the word “terrorist” against the Prime Minister, the BJP government under Modi’s leadership would eliminate terrorism itself.

“Congress called our Prime Minister a terrorist and the Election Commission will take action against them, but we will finish all the terrorists under the leadership of the Prime Minister himself,” he said.

The remark further intensified the political rhetoric, linking the controversy to the BJP’s national security narrative.

Political Clash Between BJP and Congress Intensifies

The complaint to the Election Commission of India has deepened the confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress, with the BJP framing the issue as a matter of democratic respect and constitutional decorum.

The Congress has yet to issue a formal response, but the controversy is expected to trigger heated exchanges as political tensions rise.

With the matter now before the Election Commission, the remarks have transformed into a high-stakes political battle that could dominate the national discourse in the coming days.
