New Delhi: In a groundbreaking move to further women’s empowerment, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday inaugurated the ambitious ‘Mahila Samvad’ campaign. This statewide outreach initiative aims to engage and educate over 2 crore women across the state, providing them with vital information on government schemes designed to uplift their social and economic status.

Flagging off the campaign from his official residence, 1 Anne Marg, in Patna, CM Nitish launched 50 promotional vehicles, which will travel throughout the state, particularly targeting rural and remote areas. These vehicles will act as mobile platforms to spread awareness and facilitate direct communication with women in even the most distant corners of Bihar.

Joining the Chief Minister at the event were Bihar’s Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Rural Development Minister Shrawan Kumar, and other senior state officials.

On the campaign’s first day, 600 Mahila Samvad programmes were held across Bihar, with the initiative set to expand to 70,000 locations in the next 60 days. Over 600 dedicated vehicles will ensure an extensive reach, especially in rural areas. Additionally, more than 1.35 lakh women from Jeevika groups will play an active role in the campaign, serving as key facilitators.

Patna district alone will witness 1,395 events, with 1,200 sessions scheduled each morning and evening, underscoring the magnitude of the campaign. Through these events, the initiative will spread awareness about critical schemes such as the Women Empowerment Policy 2015, Liquor Prohibition Policy, Dowry System Eradication, Child Marriage Prohibition, Mukhya Mantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, Chhatra Poshak Yojana, and the Jeevika Scheme.

The Mahila Samvad campaign is designed to connect women with the various resources and opportunities available through state-run programs, while simultaneously educating and empowering them to take advantage of these initiatives.

Neeraj Kumar, JD(U) MLC and party spokesperson, lauded the Chief Minister’s efforts, stating, “Nitish Kumar is a role model in ensuring 50 per cent women’s reservation. Bihar isn’t just a follower state — it’s a leader in women’s empowerment. ‘Mahila Samvad’ is another major step in making crores of women aware, confident, and self-reliant.”
