Bihar on Edge: Chirag Paswan Slams Nitish Govt Over Rising Crime, Says Saddened to Support ‘Out of Control’ Administration

Patna: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan launched a scathing criticism of the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, expressing deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.

Speaking to reporters during a press interaction on Saturday, Paswan said he was “deeply saddened” that his party was supporting a government under which, he claimed, crime has become “uncontrollable.” He strongly condemned the recent spike in criminal incidents, saying that the administration has turned a blind eye to the rising lawlessness.

Paswan noted that the run-up to the elections has seen a surge in violence, including high-profile murders. However, he rejected the narrative that these incidents were merely election-time tactics to defame the government. Instead, he emphasized the administration’s responsibility to curb such activities.

“If elections are the reason, even then the administration is responsible for controlling crime. How are criminals managing to operate freely under state surveillance? Either there is complicity, or the administration has failed completely,” Paswan said.

He further added, “It’s unfortunate that I’m backing a government where crime is rampant and unchecked. The safety of Bihar’s people is no longer in the government’s hands.”

Recent weeks have seen several high-profile crimes in Bihar, including the killing of prominent businessman Gopal Khemka, who was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants outside his Patna home. In a separate incident, a murder convict receiving treatment at a Patna hospital was gunned down by unidentified shooters.
