The Election Commission of India has announced by-elections for two key assembly constituencies in Maharashtra — Baramati and Rahuri. Polling for both seats will take place on April 23, while counting of votes will be conducted on May 4.

Apart from Maharashtra, assembly by-elections will also be held in Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Nagaland and Tripura. Unlike Baramati, the Rahuri bypoll is expected to witness a direct and intense contest between the ruling alliance and opposition parties. Several political groups are preparing to field candidates, making the seat a closely watched battleground.
Electoral rolls for both constituencies have already been finalized following a special revision exercise conducted by the Election Commission.
Fadnavis Says Unopposed Victory Would Be Ideal
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that unopposed victories in both Baramati and Rahuri would be ideal for the state. However, he added that the ruling Mahayuti alliance is fully prepared to contest if opposition parties decide to enter the race.
