Srinagar: The 57th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) of Handwara celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Handwara sub district of north Kashmir in Kupwara district. The BSF carried out naming of BSF campus road in the name of Shaheed Constable Balbir Singh who was martyred in the 1971 Indo Pak war in Jammu Region. The event was held in the huge presence of BSF soldiers and civilians at 57 BSF Battalion camp Handwara
Surendra Mishra Commandant 57 Battalion BSF Handwara inaugurated the Shaheed constable Balbir Singh road from the Superintendent of Police (SP) office to Kameshwar Mandir inside the BSF camp. Shaheed Balbir Singh was mentioned in dispatch by the Indian Army for gallantry and supreme sacrifice.
Surendra Mishra commandant BSF informed that the unit shall carry out a series of programs in schools and with civilians’ population to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and students shall be given awards for their best performance.
