Lucknow: Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ayodhya’s Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple, passed away on Wednesday at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow.
The revered priest was admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the Neurology ward at SGPGI on February 3 after suffering a stroke. Despite being under close monitoring by senior neurologists, he succumbed to his illness.
A day after his hospitalization, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited Acharya Satyendra Das to inquire about his health.
The chief priest had recently participated in the first anniversary celebrations of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ayodhya temple on January 11. Describing the event as “very beautiful,” he had expressed his devotion and joy.
