Assembly Elections: Polling underway in Uttar Pradesh; UP records 8.15% polling, Punjab 4.80% till 9 am

In the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, polling for the Third Phase of Assembly Elections is progressing smoothly. The polling will be conducted till 6.00 P.M. in the 59 Assembly Constituencies spread over 16 districts going to polls today. The state is witnessing Seven-Phase elections. In addition, the Single-Phase polling for Assembly Elections for 117 seats in Punjab is also being held simultaneously.

The average voter turnout registered till 09.00 am is 08.15 percent, Punjab is 04.80 per cent.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed voters to vote in large numbers in the Punjab elections and the third phase of assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh which are being held today. In a tweet, Mr Modi called upon people, particularly the youth as well as first time voters to exercise their franchise in large numbers.

The Third Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh is being conducted in 59 Assembly Constituencies including 15 ACs reserved for the Scheduled Castes from 16 districts. These districts include Hathras, Kanshiram Nagar (Kasganj), Etah, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Etawah, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi and Lalitpur district.
