New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) has issued a second notice to Arvind Kejriwal regarding his controversial “poisoned water” allegations, demanding his response by January 31. The notice includes five specific questions about his claims of water contamination.

This development follows Kejriwal’s initial response to the EC, where he defended his statements about the BJP-led Haryana government allegedly “poisoning” Delhi’s Yamuna water supply. The former Delhi Chief Minister maintained that his remarks were made in fulfillment of his “imperative public duty” to address critical public health concerns.

The situation became more complex when the Delhi Jal Board CEO contradicted Kejriwal’s assertions, describing them as “factually incorrect” in a letter to the Chief Secretary. However, Kejriwal used the ammonia level data from the CEO’s own letter to support his original claims.

In his defense, Kejriwal argued that raising concerns about water safety shouldn’t be treated as an offense, warning that such interpretation could “undermine state accountability.” He emphasized that criminalizing discussions about governmental lapses in providing safe water would set a dangerous precedent for governance.
