New Delhi: In a strong statement on regional security dynamics, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday acknowledged the “high degree of collusivity” between China and Pakistan, emphasizing that India must recognize the reality of a “two-front threat.”
Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Gen Dwivedi addressed concerns about China-Pakistan proximity, saying, “As far as I am concerned, the two-front threat is a reality.” He highlighted that India’s security forces remain vigilant and prepared for challenges along both the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the Line of Control (LoC).
Gen Dwivedi also touched upon the geopolitical situation in Bangladesh, noting that reports of growing ties between Islamabad and Dhaka warrant close observation. “The epicenter of terrorism is in a particular country, and if it has relations with any of our neighboring countries, we must be concerned,” he said, referring to Pakistan’s alleged terror links.
However, he assured that India’s military-to-military ties with Bangladesh remain strong, with regular exchanges to prevent misinterpretations.
On the Pakistan-China alliance, he reiterated that India’s strategic posture remains robust. “We are continuously modernizing, strengthening our defense capabilities, and adapting to emerging threats,” he stated.
