Mumbai: The anti-Dhananjay Munde hash tag #ShameDhananjayMunde that was started as a trending hash tag on Twitter since the evening of January 13 has horribly boomeranged leaving the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership red-faced. The move proved to be counter-productive and is generating sympathy for the embattled Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Maharashtra Minister for Social Justice Dhananjay Munde.
Worst still most of the BJP leaders and supporters who have tried to jump on the bandwagon are not even from Maharashtra. Most of them are from New Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and from other states in the country.

The red-faced BJP leadership has expressed its clear displeasure at attempts to politicize the sensitive issue. Sources in the Maharashtra BJP revealed that the state unit has split down the middle with a faction within the party empathizing with the beleaguered NCP leader. All attempts by senior BJP leader Dr Kirit Somaiya to take the matter to the Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking the NCP minister’s disqualification on grounds of concealment of facts in his Assembly election affidavit have come to a naught, sources added.
Netizens have begun to troll some BJP leaders who tried to troll embattled Dhananjay Munde reminding them of the dark personal secrets that their leaders had tried to hide.

It is only on Thursday that state BJP president Chandrakant Patil tried to troll Dhananjay Munde only to be rebuked by the NCP leaders who sarcastically remarked that while the rest of the Maharashtra BJP leaders were showing restraint, others what Chandrakant Patil is articulating is known to everyone.
Some of the BJP leaders from other states who enthusiastically took part in the trending hash tag include – BJP Lok Sabha MP from Alwar, Rajasthan, Yogi Balaknath @MahantBalaknath, Dinesh Chaudhary, BJP MLA from Kerakat Vidhan Sabha, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, Narendra Kumar Chawla, BJP municipal councilor from Janakpuri, New Delhi @NarendraChawla1, Arun Yadav, BJP Haryana state IT & Social Media head @beingarun28 and Vinod Thakor BJP karyakarta (party cadre) from Gujarat, @VinodThakor444 among others.

Reacting to the developments, state NCP president Jayant Patil was cautious in his remarks stating that conclusions could not be drawn without verification of the complaint. “Some BJP leaders are showing restraint and maturity. It is all clear as to what stand is Chandrakant Patil articulating. In both the matters the party will not interfere and an impartial, fair probe must be held. We shall take an internal review of the situation and if need be talk to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray about it”, remarked Patil.
