Bhiwandi: The saviour Ansari couple who put their life at risk and alerted at least eighteen people and brought them down from the first and second floors of the Jilani apartment before the building collapsed.
Sharif Ansari (33), a local journalist who resides with his wife Dr Yasmeen Ansari (28) on the second floor of Jilani apartment located Patel compound in Dhamankar Naka in Bhiwandi.
Sharif Ansari while speaking to thenews21 said “I woke up at around 3.30 when I heard some knock on the door. I did not care about it. But later again the door was knocked, and then my wife Yasmeen told me to let you just check what was happening there. Following which, I stepped out and saw Shabbir and Sammiullah were discussing the crack that developed in the building. I personally went to look at a house of Shabbir and found that a small crack developed from the wall towards the floor. However, I asked them to evacuate the building immediately. I rushed to my home and alerted my wife about it. Following which, I along with my wife announced by knocking the door to evacuate the building whenever the building can be collapsed”.
During the mishap, not useable staircase helped 20 to 25 peoples to escape from building:
Dr Yasmeen Ansari who works at COVID hospital in Bhiwandi talking with thenews21, “There were two staircases In the Jilani building and ground floor having power loom units. The one staircase was totally shut down due to several garbage being thrown there and the drainage system was blocked which led to no residences using this staircase. No civic body personnel came here to clean it. During the mishap, a not usable staircase helped 20 to 25 people to escape from the building by using the shut staircase”.

Farid Amzad Ali Ansari (50), who resides on the first floor of Jilani apartment alone while his wife and son live in another home situated at Bunder Mohala in Bhiwandi.
Sharif rushed to the first floor and knocked on Farid’s door. But he did not open the door. Thereafter, He had come out when Sharif knocked with force. Sarif asked him to evacuate the room but he said to him that he has his own home. Why does he evacuate? the small argument began between them meanwhile the chuck of the structure was fallen down. Following the incident, Farid and Sharif immediately got down from the building and survived. –By Narendra Gupta
