Bhiwandi: Shaikh family of Bhiwandi are devastated a lot after the 34 year old ground plus three storied Jilani apartment building collapsed in the Patel compound area of Dhamankar Naka in Bhiwandi on Monday.

Arif Yusuf Shaikh (34) who is a truck driver by profession, resides with wife Nasima Arif Shaikh (30), two daughters Nida (6) and Sadiya (4) and one son Hasnain (2.5 months) and brother Sohail Yusuf Shaikh (20) on the first floor of the ill-fated building.
Pravin Yunis Shaikh, sister of Arif while speaking with thenews21, “Since Monday’s tragedy, I am seeking to search my brother’s family member and younger brother Sohail but they could not be traced by a team of TDRF and locals till the passing of 30 hours. On Tuesday afternoon, three dead bodies of Arif, Nasima and Nida were pulled out from debris by a team of NDRF while three are still missing or trapped under the debris.

Yusuf Shaikh, father of Arif who hails from Latur told thenews21, “I heard the news of my son’s family trapped under the debris of a building collapse through my daughter, the entire family were in the state of trauma. I then immediately booked a private jeep and all the family members reached Bhiwandi from Latur. Now, I can’t control my emotions as hopes of finding all family members alive are receding”.
Yunis Shaikh who is a brother in law of Arif said, “The bad foul smell of the dead bodies is emanating from debris when the two were pulled out from the debris by JCB machines”.-By Narendra Gupta
