Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah began his two-day tour of Mumbai on Friday with a visit to the city’s most iconic Ganesh pandal, Lalbaugcha Raja, accompanied by his family. The visit marked the beginning of his participation in Ganeshotsav festivities, which draw lakhs of devotees every year.

Shah is also expected to visit prominent Ganesh Mandals in Bandra and Andheri during his stay. However, his trip is not limited to cultural engagements—behind the celebrations lies a packed political agenda. Sources indicate that Shah will hold discussions with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the Maratha quota protests, the shifting political climate in Maharashtra, and the BJP’s strategy for the upcoming local body elections. Meetings with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar are also on the cards.

Authorities have placed tight security arrangements at major pandals, especially Lalbaugcha Raja, to ensure smooth crowd management during Shah’s visit.
