In Jharkhand, an Air Asia flight was grounded at the Birsa Munda Ranchi airport today averting another major airplane accident in Ranchi. The aircraft was grounded for routine checkup and other procedures after a bird-hit the aircraft during take off sparking fire in the engine.
A major accident was averted and the flight will again take off after completing procedures, said Airport Director Vinod Sharma talking to AIR News. All 176 passengers on board are safe and currently stationed at the airport. Mr. Sharma said a bird hit the aircraft. This has been the first bird-hit case in the last 5 months.
