Ahead of the highly anticipated Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has rolled out its comprehensive manifesto, featuring 133 pivotal points aimed at addressing a spectrum of societal and developmental concerns.

Manifesto Highlights: Addressing Crucial Issues

AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami spearheaded the unveiling of the manifesto, highlighting several key initiatives:

  1. Women’s Empowerment: AIADMK pledges to prioritize women’s welfare by advocating for an increase in financial assistance from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 for women heading households.
  2. Housing for the Underprivileged: The party promises to champion the cause of housing for the underprivileged, vowing to push for government-funded housing schemes that provide homes free of cost to those in need.
  3. Education Reforms: Criticizing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) as biased, AIADMK vows to push for medical college admissions to be based on Class 12 marks.
  4. Enhanced Representation: AIADMK advocates for greater regional inclusivity in national governance, urging for the Parliament’s winter session to be held in Chennai.
  5. Environmental Concerns: The party asserts that all necessary measures will be taken to stall the construction, citing concerns over its potential adverse impacts on Tamil Nadu’s water resources and agriculture.
  6. Healthcare Access: AIADMK emphasizes the urgent need for reducing the prices of life-saving drugs, addressing the escalating healthcare costs and ensuring access to essential medications.
  7. Fishermen Security: Strong advocacy for increased naval security measures to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of Tamil Nadu fishermen.
  8. Agricultural Support: AIADMK demands the Central government guarantee a minimum support price for agricultural products, supporting the welfare of farmers.
  9. Refugee Rights: Provision of dual citizenship should be extended to Sri Lankan Tamils residing in India as refugees.
  10. Infrastructure Development: Introduction of a pension scheme for farmers, establishment of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) in Madurai, construction of an International Cricket Stadium in Coimbatore, and establishment of an AIIMS hospital in Coimbatore.

AIADMK Candidate List Unveiled

In addition to the manifesto release, AIADMK also unveiled two lists of candidates for various constituencies in Tamil Nadu. Notable candidates include Jayavardhan for Chennai South, Royapuram Manohar for Chennai North, and Saravanan for Madurai, among others, showcasing the party’s preparations and lineup for the upcoming electoral battle.
