New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the national capital on Wednesday night, as Maharashtra’s opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) grapples with internal discord following NCP (Sharad Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar’s recent move to felicitate Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Sources indicate that Thackeray and Gandhi discussed key political developments, including allegations against the Election Commission regarding its conduct of elections.

Thackeray is also set to meet AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, whose party suffered a significant defeat in the recent Delhi assembly bypolls.

The MVA, comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and NCP (SP), has been in turmoil after Pawar conferred the Mahadji Shinde Rashtra Gaurav Puraskar on Shinde. Shinde led a rebellion in 2022, splitting the Shiv Sena and bringing down Uddhav Thackeray’s government. The felicitation has sparked unease within the alliance, with Thackeray’s latest meetings seen as efforts to consolidate opposition forces ahead of future political battles.
