In a significant political move ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections scheduled for November, actor Sayaji Shinde has officially joined the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Shinde, who has made his mark in both Bollywood and Tollywood, was welcomed into the party on Friday, October 11.
During his induction, Shinde expressed his desire to contribute to society through politics, emphasizing that he has been involved in social work for many years. “I have been doing social work for long, which is why I came ‘into the system’ to continue doing what I do,” he said. Shinde praised Ajit Pawar, stating that the NCP’s policies were attractive and aligned with his values, prompting his decision to join the party.
“I have portrayed the role of politicians in films, but I haven’t become a politician yet. The social work I do made me think that instead of staying outside, it would be better to come into the system and do some good work. That’s why I entered politics. I liked the policies of Ajit Pawar’s NCP, which is why I joined them,” Shinde explained, highlighting the impact of initiatives like the Ladli Behna Yojana, which he believes has provided substantial support to poor women.
Chhagan Bhujbal, a senior leader of the NCP, praised Shinde’s decision, asserting that he is not only an accomplished actor but is also well-equipped to navigate the political landscape. “He will not face any difficulties in politics either,” Bhujbal stated, indicating confidence in Shinde’s potential contributions to the party.
As the Maharashtra Assembly Elections draw closer, Shinde’s entry into politics marks a strategic move for the NCP, which is working to strengthen its position in the state’s political arena. With his popularity as an actor and his commitment to social issues, Shinde is expected to be a significant asset to the party’s campaign efforts in the upcoming elections.
