Abrogation of article 370 & 35A; Execution was clumsy , Decision was not

Mumbai: Government of India abrogated Article 370 and Article 35 A, thus withdrawing all the special powers of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. State of emergency was declared and the whole state remains unaware about the happenings till today. According to sources, critical patients are suffering, internet is completely shut and the people are in a state of oblivion.

According to me “the method was not properly executed but the decision was right. The only pitfall of the decision was that the people whose consent was of prime importance, who had all the rights to decide the future of their state, weren’t included. I have a major problem with the media houses (BBC, The quint, the wire) as they are misleading the audience with half truth. They need to know that Jammu and Kashmir’s land is not only of the Kashmiri Muslim as it also belongs to the Dogars, Ladakhis and kashmiri pandits.

All of them have an equal right over the decision. Shifting our focus to people, where were the people who were complaining about government thus disregarding their own constitution when all the Kashmiri Pandits were thrown out of the valley in no time? Kashmiri Pandits were beaten mercilessly and assaulted. Meanwhile, Farookh Abdullah was enjoying in London amidst the massacre. When Hari Singh signed the pact in 1947, he provided a temporary special status to whole Kashmir and not just to Kashmiri Muslims.

People who claim that the government has opted for an illegal step; they need to know that those militants and separatists like Yaseen Malik were the ones who first broke the pact of 1947 and Kashmiri Pandits were asked to leave the valley. Also, Kulbhushan Yadav’s case Lawyer Harish Salve has clearly stated that no court can challenge this decision through any kind of proceedings as this step is completely legal”.

“People worried due to lost connectivity, which was actually a requisite otherwise, the separatists and militants would have caused great harm to the state. Why is anyone not looking into the history of Kashmir? Once provided with access to Internet, the separatists and militants would have reactivated their own groups, and would have caused devastation. Even I could not ha ve any conversation with my parents properly during that time.

Indian army in Jammu & Kashmir is protecting us and even they haven’t slept or eaten properly. Aren’t their families worried?, and those soldiers were not able to celebrate ‘Raksha Bandhan’ with their families. Yet, they kept on doing their job faithfully, and with a smile.

Large part of the state were not able to celebrate ‘EID’ properly with their relatives. These things are upsetting but sacrifices are required for change. The agenda to abrogate article 370 was clearly stated in BJP’s manifesto from 2014 or even before that. Why did people majorly vote for them? From past 30 years, I have only seen controversies, instability and witnessed high alert in my State. In the name of Development and Nationalism, Humanity lost”.

All though some Muslims are really happy with this decision. They yearn for peace and stability, but cannot reveal their identity as they fear their community might excommunicate them. Even we are suffering but we are with the government, supporting them instead of revolting and raising ISIS flags”. I wish that the condition becomes stable and peace wins.- By Prabal Bhat
