Indian Army organizes a Village Mela at Chakkigam Kupwara

Srinagar: The Indian Army organised a Village Mela at Chakkigam area in the frontier district of Kupwara on Saturday. The event was held in continuation with the Indian Army’s efforts to bridge the gap between Jawan and the local people. 

The event highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment and education for upliftment of the society. The event consisted of various cultural and sports activities focussing on women empowerment. The event saw huge participation by locals who were very excited to be part of such a mega event and praised the Army for their efforts.

The event consisted of enthralling performances by the students which mesmerised the audience all along. The event was evenly laced with other awestruck performances including dance performances, patriotic songs, the high spirited Bhangra, Kashmiri folk dance showing the culture of Kashmir, Horse Racing and various games for children. The performing children ensured that the audience stood on their feet, with eyes glued on stage with their scintillating performances. 

The events also included free medical check-up, Food item stalls of different cuisines and make-shift shops selling items at discounted rate, which attracted a sizable participation from the locals. 
The kids were engrossed in playing various games including Sack Race, Musical chair & Lemon race. The adults participated in tug of war, couple games like Brick Race & Needle-thread race. The event culminated with a horse race and prize distribution and felicitation to participants by Asifa Begum, BDC, Nutnussa.

The event was attended by BDC, Nutnussa Block and Sarpanches from Kandi & Kigam Area. The locals appreciated the efforts made by the Indian Army and expressed hope that it will go a long way towards strengthening the bond between locals and Army.
