First Alumni Meet organized at Army Goodwill School, Hajinar brings nostalgic memories alive

Srinagar: The Army Goodwill School, Hajinar (Karnah, Kupwara) organised its first alumni meet on Sunday at the school premises. The aim of the meet was to provide a platform to the present students for a healthy dialogue and interaction with the alumni who have brought laurels to school and guide them to face the professional world proactively in the challenges that may emerge in their career path. 

The meet commenced with alumni visiting their classrooms, laboratories and play grounds which rejuvenated their old memories associated with the school.

Aftab Ahmad, Principal, AGS, Hajinar gave a welcome address followed by a number of mesmerising cultural programmes by students.  In response, a number of alumni shared their nostalgic memories of school days, expressed gratitude towards it, perking up and paving their way towards a better life. 84 alumni along with the entire teaching staff, students of Army Goodwill School, Hajinar and prominent civilians of Karnah attended the meet.

Felicitation of participants was done by Commanding Officer Kulsuri Battalion and Jaffer Hussain Lone, sarpanch Hajinar. On this occasion Ghulam Haider Khan, ex Principal of the school was also felicitated by the Chief Guest Col Manjeet Mohan Singh Meelu, Vice Chairman AGS, Hajinar for his untiring hard work and selfless service to the school for more than seven years. Najma Hamid, DDC member was also present at the occasion.

It would be worthwhile to note here that the AGS Hajinar was established in the year 1999 and presently 483 students are studying in the school. The school is being managed jointly by the Indian Army and Indrani Balan Foundation of Pune headed by Puneet Balan.

The meet concluded with lunch and alumni bidding farewell with a promise to meet again & extend their support to their alma mater.
