Srinagar: A group of 30 students from the Ain-ul-alum institute of Morality and Science (AIIMS) school Handwara on Thursday went on a trek to the Baderkali eco forest area in Rajwar. The students including boys and girls were sent by the school for day-long trekking to know the value of forests in the present times.

The school management said this trekking aimed to keep the students aware of the importance of forests in our day-to-day life and give them first-hand experience. The students were taken by the local Forest officer Aijaz Ahmad who accompanied the students along with other teachers.

Speaking to media persons, DDC Rajwar, Mohammad Suleman Mir said, such activities are important and academics is not only schooling. He also hoped that such activities will be carried in the other schools as well to give first-hand experience to these budding children.

He further said such activities should have happened in the past but due to Covid-19 same did not happen. At present the caseload of Covid-19 is very low and this school took this good initiative. On the occasion, DDC Rajwar, Principal AIIMS Iftikar Ahmad, Forest officer Eco Forest Baderkali Aijaz Ahmad and others were present.
