Indian Army celebrates Diwali with blood donation and honouring its martyrs at Kupwara

Indian Army Personnel donates 54 units of blood to Kupwara District Hospital on the occasion of Diwali and honours its martyrs at Patahirri Kupwara

Srinagar: Indian Army personnel from Kupwara Terriers donated 54 units of blood to the Kupwara district hospital on the occasion of Diwali, the blood donation camp was organised at Patahirri Garrison.

The soldiers of the Army Unit based out of Kupwara, donated blood to the Kupwara district hospital as part of their commitment towards the community.

The team of Blood Bank officials from Kupwara District Hospital appreciated the gesture of the personnel from Kupwara Terriers for their selfless service in helping the needy with this noble gesture, that too twice within three months. They also made a special mention of L/Hav Showkat Rasool who volunteered to donate blood twice in the past three months.

Indian Army is always in fore front in serving the nation be it guarding the borders, fighting terrorism or lending a helping hand in serving the community.

Meanwhile, continuing to follow its rich traditions Indian Army organised  a ceremony on November 2, 2021 and November 4, 2021 at Patahirri garrison to commemorate the martyred jawans of Kupwara Terriers namely Rfn Tariq Ah Lone resident of Gurez , Rfn Waseem Akram Lone resident of Bandipora & Nk Abdul Majeed Bhat resident of Panzgam, Kupwara who laid down their lives on November 2, 2015 and November 4, 2019, battling terrorists during a counter attack when their post at Tarbal in Gurez sector was attacked by enemy troops and terrorists.

Kupwara Terriers officers, jawans, families and Veer Naris (Widows) laid wreaths followed by observing a two-minute silence to remember the ultimate sacrifice of the brave hearts at the memorial.

Post the ceremony a brief interaction was held with the Veer Naris’ to address any issues being faced by them. Kupwara Terriers expressed gratitude to the families and assured continuous support and assistance to them.
