Handwara celebrates 75th Independence Day

Srinagar: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour, gaiety and lots of patriotic enthusiasm at District Police Lines Handwara.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), CRPF, BSF, SSB and other forces participated in Independence Day parade which concluded peacefully.

Chairman Municipal Committee Handwara, Masroor Banday accompanied by Superintendent of Police Handwara, Sandeep Gupta (IPS) unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past at DPL Handwara.

The Chief Guest inspected the parade and took salute on March Past presented by the contingents of JKP, IRP, SSB, BSF, CRPF and Home Guards.

ASP Handwara, Mashkoor Ahmad (JKPS) officers from Army, SSB, CRPF, BSF, Medical Superintendent DH Handwara, Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD, I&FC, R&B Division Handwara, DDC Rajwara and Qalamabad, respectable citizens of PD Handwara and other officers of Police and civil administration were also present on the occasion.

Chief guest in his address congratulated the participants for celebrating 75th Independence Day, also appreciated the Covid warriors for their selfless efforts during Pandemic, highlighted the development work done by Govt during the year.

The martyrs of Police and CAPF who sacrificed their lives for nation were paid rich tribute.

At the end, the prizes were distributed among the best contingents of parade and other participants.

The prizes and certificates of appreciation were also given to the Police Personnel and other civil employees for their best performance for having tirelessly worked hard by putting their lives in risk in safeguarding general public.

A blood donation camp in collaboration with Red Cross Society (RCS) was also organised honouring the sacrifice of martyrs of the nation in which officers and officials from Police donated their blood.
