On the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti on 6th of December, the NSS unit of Narsee Monjee college of Commerce and Economics organised the 4th edition of Aashayein .
Dr Bhimrao Babasaheb Ambedkar , emphasized on alleviating the experiences of less fortunate for bringing in parity in the society . Keeping in mind his values ; Aashayein’19 aimed to provide a platform for the visually impaired individuals to express their cultural flair.
NGOs from all over the Mumbai marked their presence via tremendous participation in categories such as dancing, singing, open mic, playing instruments and beat boxing. The rendition of the bongo player, teleported the audience right to a starry night. In the total of 50 performances, the audience was left in an ecstatic fervour when one of the visually challenged participants sang “Lag Jaa Gale”
All the participants were immensely entertained which brought sky-high contentment. NarseeMonjee College’s visually impaired alumni and contestant quoted with thrill, “Makes me feel so proud when I say ‘I am an ex-NMite’. I had so much of fun today and I can’t express in words”, such was the impact of Aashayein.
Ms. Manasvi, a student from the National Social Seviceunit of the college emotionally claimed “Aashayein is not only an event but a feeling too that is imbibed in the heart of every NSS member.”
