Counting of votes for 575 seats in six municipal corporations of Gujarat begins

In Gujarat, the Counting of votes for the 575 seats of six major Municipal Corporations including Ahmedabad and Surat began today morning amidst tight security and strict Covid 19 protocol. Besides, counting has also begun for the two seats of Junagadh municipal corporation.

Our correspondent reports that postal ballots are being counted first. Over 10 thousand personnel including more than 4000 police forces have been posted for the smooth counting of votes.

The elections were held on 21st of this month for Ahmedabad, Surat Vadodara bhavnagar Rajkot and Jamnagar municipal corporations and bypolls for the two seats of Junagadh municipal corporation. Nearly 45.64 percent voter turnout has been recorded for the elections of six municipal corporations.
