Pune: In a terse warning to party rebels Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday warned Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rebels in the assembly poll fray that the party had no place for such “opportunists”. Addressing an election rally for partys sitting MLA from Maval seat, Sanjay (Bala) Bhegade in Lonavala, the UP Chief Minister warned the rebels who are contesting against partys official candidate, not to indulge in such selfish politics. Lashing out at the party rebels, he added that till yesterday the BJP meant everything for them.
Coming down heavily on party rebels the UP Chief Minister further remarked that if tomorrow someone were to dangle a carrot before them, they would easily switch their allegiance and can even start talking against Maharashtra or against the country if need be. Stating that such things were unacceptable, Yogi Adityanath called upon the party workers to remain principled and practice partys politics that is based on certain values.
Lecturing the cadres on ethics and values, Yogi Adityanath remarked that wile every party worker seeks to get the party ticket, only one out of 100 aspirants gets it. In BJP, the process of selection is arrived through common consensus. However, some candidates in the party turn opportunists. Adityanath urged the cadres not to support such opportunistic rebels. He admitted that more than the threat from the opposition Congress-NCP alliance, it is the BJP rebels who are giving headache to the party.
The UP Chief Minister further stated that if the BJP and the Shiv Sena had not shared similar ideologies, then the saffron alliance would never have happened and that the two parties would not have been contesting elections together for so long. Adityanath further remarked that a feeling of security was prevailing in the country and Maharashtra as a result of the initiatives undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that before 2014, Maharashtra was plagued by rising crime and the roots of the D-Company ran deep in the underworld of Mumbai, Pune and elsewhere in the state.
