Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has supported CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby’s proposal for a coordinated opposition strategy. Banerjee called for opposition parties to overcome differences and work together to safeguard democracy.
The two leaders also spoke over the phone and discussed joint action concerning the Election Commission. Banerjee said TMC and CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MPs were already in talks and referred to her recent discussions with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. She also proposed an urgent opposition meeting in Delhi to decide the next course of action.
