Actors Suriya and Jyotika have renewed their wedding vows after 20 years of marriage, marking the milestone with an intimate Christian-style ceremony attended by their children, Diya and Dev, and close family and friends, including Suriya’s brother, actor Karthi. The couple shared a video from the ceremony on Instagram. Jyotika is seen walking down the aisle with their son Dev, while daughter Diya stands beside Suriya as the couple prepare to exchange their vows. The video ends with a montage of moments from the celebration.
Jyotika captioned the post “THE SEQUEL”, describing the vow renewal as a celebration of their “20 years of love and war”. But she was equally clear about what they were celebrating: not a perfect marriage, but the imperfections, adjustments, understanding and sacrifices that had sustained their relationship over two decades. In a longer note accompanying the video, Jyotika reflected on the promises she wanted to carry into the next phase of their marriage — choosing the brighter side of life, being grateful, prioritising family and recognising the respect she receives from her husband.
Addressing Suriya directly, she promised to remain the “imperfect wife” who fights, makes up and grows closer to him each time. Above all, she placed friendship at the heart of their marriage, describing Suriya as her equal, confidant, gossip partner and best friend. She ended her vows with: “So here’s to our next twenty years — The imperfect us, with the perfect understanding.”
