The Uttar Pradesh government has approved ₹604 crore to improve infrastructure in government schools and make classrooms more suitable for Generation Alpha students.
The Basic Education Directorate has released ₹302 crore as the first instalment of the funding.
₹344 Crore For Primary Schools
Of the total amount, ₹344 crore has been earmarked for 2,243 primary schools across the state. Around ₹172.26 crore has already been released as the first instalment.
This works out to an average allocation of about ₹15.36 lakh for each primary school.
Another ₹259.95 crore has been set aside for 883 upper primary schools, with around ₹130 crore released in the first phase.
Schools To Get Modern Facilities
The funds will be used for repairing and rebuilding school buildings and improving basic facilities in both rural and urban areas.
Several districts, including Deoria and Maharajganj, along with areas in Purvanchal, are expected to benefit from the programme.
The planned improvements include better classrooms, toilets, access roads and bus facilities. The government also plans to introduce practical learning spaces and AI-based learning environments.
The programme is aimed at improving the learning environment for nearly 2.5 crore students across Uttar Pradesh.
According to India Today correspondent Ashish Srivastava, work at the ground level is expected to begin immediately. Initial changes could become visible within two to three months, while the wider transformation is expected to be completed within six months.
