Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched a sharp political attack on the Opposition, alleging that rival parties were attempting to mislead the public by repeatedly promoting “false narratives.” Addressing BJP booth presidents from urban and rural areas in Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister urged party workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level ahead of upcoming elections.
Calling booth workers the foundation of the BJP’s electoral machinery, Adityanath said the party’s success depends on its ability to maintain public trust at the local level while countering what he described as misinformation campaigns by the Opposition.
“Our opponents believe that repeating a lie over and over will eventually make it appear as the truth. We believe a lie remains a lie forever. Truth may remain hidden for some time, but ultimately it emerges and earns the trust of the people. The BJP represents that trust,” he said.
The Chief Minister urged party workers to identify and expose what he termed deliberate attempts to create misleading political narratives.
“You must understand the conspiracy behind these narratives. The Opposition is trying to mislead society, and it is our responsibility to expose these attempts before the people,” he added.
‘Real Election Battle Is at the Booth Level’
Emphasising the BJP’s organisational strategy, Adityanath said electoral victories are secured at the booth level rather than in larger political arenas. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated emphasis on grassroots organisation, he said every booth worker plays a decisive role in determining election outcomes.
“The Prime Minister has often said that the real battlefield of elections is not the country, the state, the Lok Sabha or the Assembly—it is the booth. If you win the booth, you win the election. That requires a strong organisation, proper planning and continuous public outreach,” Adityanath said.
He encouraged workers to become the face of public confidence within their respective areas and maintain close contact with voters.
Alleges Congress Misled Voters During 2024 Polls
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also referred to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, alleging that Congress workers, through certain non-governmental organisations, circulated forms promising financial benefits if the party came to power.
“You witnessed this during the 2024 elections. Forms were distributed claiming that ₹1 lakh would be deposited into people’s bank accounts once Congress formed the government. FIRs were later registered regarding this exercise,” he claimed.
Contrasts BJP’s Governance With Opposition Politics
Drawing a distinction between the BJP and its political rivals, Adityanath said the country has always witnessed a contest between positive and negative forces.
“On one side are those who promote falsehood, division, anarchy, hooliganism, mafia rule and destruction. On the other side are those who believe in truth, development, social harmony and public welfare,” he said.
He reiterated that the BJP government remains committed to eliminating organised crime, promoting development and bringing society together through a positive approach.
“We believe in ending mafia rule, ensuring public welfare and uniting society. This positive thinking strengthens constructive forces,” he remarked.
Highlights Development Under BJP Governments
The Chief Minister also highlighted what he described as the achievements of BJP governments at both the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh.
According to Adityanath, India has undergone significant transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, while Uttar Pradesh has witnessed major changes during the past nine years under the state’s “double-engine government.”
“We have fulfilled the promises we made. Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has earned greater respect across the world. Similarly, Uttar Pradesh, including Gorakhpur, has transformed from being viewed with doubt to being recognised with confidence and respect,” he said.
Concluding his address, Adityanath once again urged BJP workers to strengthen the party’s grassroots network, saying booth-level organisation would remain the key factor in future electoral battles.
