“This Is A Matter Of Faith For Crores Of Hindus”: Ram Temple Trust Chief Demands Strict Action In Donation Theft Row

The alleged donation theft controversy surrounding the Ram Temple has taken a significant turn, with Ram Temple Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das breaking his silence for the first time and calling for the harshest possible action against those found responsible. His remarks came ahead of an important meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, where several key administrative decisions are expected to be taken.

Expressing anguish over the allegations, the senior seer described the matter as one deeply connected to the faith of millions of devotees. He said those involved in the alleged misappropriation should face the strictest punishment and expressed confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would ensure a fair and thorough investigation.

At the same time, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das appealed to political parties and public figures not to use the issue for political advantage, urging that the focus remain on uncovering the truth and preserving public trust in the temple’s administration.

The Trust’s meeting is expected to examine several important issues arising from the controversy, including the resignations submitted by General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Dr Anil Mishra. Sources indicate that members will decide whether to accept or reject the resignations as scrutiny over the Trust’s functioning continues.

Another major item on the agenda is the proposed appointment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to strengthen the temple’s administrative structure and improve oversight of its operations.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was established in February 2020 following the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Ayodhya land dispute case. The Trust currently comprises 14 members and meets periodically to oversee the construction, management and administration of the Ram Temple. Monday’s meeting is expected to play a crucial role in determining the Trust’s next course of action amid the ongoing controversy.
