AAP Municipal Candidate Found Dead in Rajkot Flat
A political controversy has emerged in Rajkot after a 23-year-old former Aam Aadmi Party municipal election candidate was found dead inside her apartment, with her family alleging that the death was not a suicide but a planned murder.
The deceased, Nandani Bosmia, who had contested local municipal elections on an AAP ticket and worked as a medical representative, was discovered hanging inside her fifth-floor flat on Monday evening.
Family Alleges Murder and Cover-Up
The family has strongly rejected the suicide theory and alleged that she was killed and later hanged to mislead investigators. They have accused her live-in partner, Aslam Hussain Sama from Junagadh, of harassment, physical assault, and repeated threats.
According to the family, the relationship had become unstable over time due to personal disputes, and she had previously left the flat after conflicts before returning shortly before her death.
They have also alleged that she faced ongoing pressure and violence, and have demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances of her death.
Body Discovered After Family Raised Alarm
Police said the incident came to light after relatives were unable to contact her and asked someone to check her residence. The flat door was reportedly found slightly open before her body was discovered inside.
Emergency services were called immediately, and she was declared dead after initial examination at the scene. The body was later sent for post-mortem procedures.
Police Register Case and Begin Investigation
Rajkot police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated a detailed investigation into the matter. A preliminary medical assessment suggested death due to hanging, but officials ordered a forensic post-mortem due to the seriousness of the allegations.
Investigators have confirmed that the deceased and the accused were in a live-in relationship and had a history of disputes, but said all possible angles, including foul play, are being examined.
