The Bengaluru Traffic Police have issued a clarification regarding a widely discussed case involving a NEET 2026 aspirant who allegedly missed the entry deadline to an examination centre, stating that traffic congestion was not responsible for the delay.
The clarification follows social media claims suggesting that movement restrictions and congestion linked to a public event had prevented the student from reaching the centre on time. Police, however, said their investigation found no evidence supporting this claim.
According to officials, the department reviewed CCTV footage, conducted route mapping, and interacted with both the candidate and family members to reconstruct the timeline of events.
The footage analysis showed that the student left home in R.T. Nagar at 12:57 pm, while the entry deadline for the examination centre was 1:30 pm. Police stated that the candidate reached the vicinity of the centre at approximately 1:33 pm, three minutes after the permitted entry window had closed.
Investigators further noted that the candidate had chosen a longer travel route despite the availability of a shorter alternative path that could have reduced travel time. Authorities said this route selection contributed significantly to the delay.
The police also clarified that traffic conditions across the city remained largely normal on the day of the examination. They stated that there was no significant congestion linked to any public event that could have obstructed movement or caused widespread delays in the area.
Officials added that traffic personnel deployed along the route were assisting commuters and ensuring smooth movement wherever required.
Based on the findings, the department concluded that the delay was primarily due to a late departure from home combined with route choice, rather than external traffic disruptions.
Reiterating their position, the Bengaluru Traffic Police said their assessment was based on verifiable CCTV evidence and systematic route analysis, and that no link could be established between public event-related traffic management and the candidate’s late arrival.
The case has drawn attention online, highlighting concerns around exam timing, urban travel planning, and the importance of early departure for time-sensitive competitive examinations.
