Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched a fierce attack on US President Donald Trump over the deaths of three Indian seafarers in the Gulf of Oman, accusing him of being directly responsible for the tragedy and demanding accountability.
The remarks have intensified the political debate surrounding the deaths of the Indian crew members aboard the oil tanker MT Settebello, which was caught in a US military operation in the region.
Kejriwal’s Sharpest Attack Yet
In a video message posted on social media, Kejriwal strongly criticised Trump while reacting to the deaths of the Indian nationals.
“You will be held accountable for the Indian lives lost. You are a cowardly, cold-blooded murderer,” Kejriwal said.
The AAP chief alleged that the use of military force had resulted in the loss of innocent lives and said those responsible must answer for the deaths of Indian citizens.
Modi Government Also Comes Under Fire
Kejriwal did not limit his criticism to Washington. He also questioned the response of the Narendra Modi government, arguing that India should have reacted more forcefully after three of its citizens were killed.
According to the former Delhi Chief Minister, the deaths of Indian sailors working overseas should have prompted a stronger diplomatic response from New Delhi.
He claimed that protecting Indian nationals abroad must remain a top priority regardless of geopolitical considerations.
MT Settebello Tragedy Triggers Outrage
The controversy centres around the MT Settebello, a tanker carrying Indian crew members that was struck during a US military operation near the Gulf of Oman. The incident claimed the lives of three Indian seafarers and raised fresh concerns about the safety of maritime workers operating in conflict zones.
The deaths have sparked grief among families and drawn attention to the risks faced by Indian sailors working on international shipping routes.
