Major Administrative Overhaul Sees Transfer And Promotion Of 96 IPS And State Police Officers
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has carried out a sweeping reshuffle in the state police administration, transferring and promoting 96 officers from the IPS and State Police Services in one of the biggest bureaucratic changes in recent months.
As part of the large-scale overhaul, all five Joint Commissioners serving in the Mumbai Police have been replaced, signalling a significant restructuring of key departments within the city police force.
The reshuffle orders were issued by the Maharashtra Home Department on Friday and include changes across Mumbai Police, Anti-Terrorism Squad, Crime Investigation Department, regional police units and several senior administrative posts.
Manojkumar Sharma Takes Charge Of Mumbai Law And Order
Senior IPS officer Manojkumar Sharma has been appointed as the new Joint Commissioner handling the crucial Law and Order division in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Anil Kumbhare has been posted as the Joint Commissioner of the Mumbai Crime Branch, one of the most sensitive investigative wings in the city police structure.
Other major Mumbai appointments include Satyanarayan Chaudhary as Joint Commissioner of Traffic, Rajesh Pradhan as head of the Economic Offences Wing and Suvez Haque as Joint Commissioner (Administration).
Several Officers Elevated In Mumbai Police Setup
The reshuffle also brought promotions for several officers who have now been inducted into senior leadership roles within Mumbai Police.
Officials including Mokshada Patil, Dixit Gedam, Krishnakant Upadhyay and Praveen Mundhe have been promoted and appointed as Additional Commissioners of Police in Mumbai.
Several Deputy Commissioners have also been shifted to Mumbai as part of the administrative restructuring. These include Jayant Meena, Abhaysingh Deshmukh, Ganesh Shinde, Pankaj Dahane, Kavita Nerkar, Poornima Chougule, Himmat Jadhav and Shivaji Pawar.
ATS, CID And Regional Units Also See Top-Level Changes
The reshuffle extended beyond Mumbai, with the state government appointing Krishna Prakash as Additional Director General of Police (Training), while Paramjit Dahiya has been named Special Inspector General of the Anti-Terrorism Squad.
Other senior-level postings include Datta Karale as Special IG at the State Human Rights Commission, Praveen Padwal as Special IG Nashik, and Lakhmi Gautam as Special IG (Law and Order).
The government also appointed Mahesh Patil as Special IG (Planning and Coordination), C. K. Meena as Special IG Konkan Region, and Sanjay Darade as Joint Commissioner in Pune.
New Appointments Across Maharashtra Police Units
Additional appointments announced in the reshuffle include Ranjan Sharma as Special IG Kolhapur, Sunil Phulari as Special IG CID, and Jaykumar as Special IG of Force One.
Sanjay Yenpure has been posted as Special IG VIP Security, while Sanjay Jadhav takes over as Additional Commissioner of Police in Thane.
The government also appointed Dilip Sakore as Joint Commissioner in Navi Mumbai and Punjabrao Ugle as Special IG, Police Housing.
Focus On Administrative Efficiency And Security
Officials said the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening policing efficiency, improving coordination across departments and enhancing law enforcement management in key urban and sensitive regions of Maharashtra.
The transfer list also includes postings for officers in Pune, Gadchiroli, Solapur, Amravati and CID units, alongside appointments in anti-narcotics, vigilance and security divisions.
More than three dozen officers from the State Police Service were also included in the statewide administrative changes.
