Kanye West’s India Concert Cancelled Ahead Of Scheduled Delhi Performance

Organisers Cite Official Directives Behind Cancellation Of Ye’s Debut India Show

New Delhi: The much-anticipated India concert of globally known rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has been cancelled weeks before the scheduled performance in the national capital.

The concert, which was expected to mark Ye’s first-ever live performance in India, was set to take place at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on May 23 after previously being postponed from its earlier March date.

Event organisers confirmed the cancellation through an official statement shared on Instagram on Friday, expressing disappointment over the development.

“We are deeply disheartened to announce that Ye Live in India, scheduled for 23rd May 2026 in New Delhi, will not be able to proceed due to directives issued by officials,” the organisers said.

Organisers Emphasise Public Safety

The statement added that months of planning had gone into preparing what was expected to become one of the biggest live music productions hosted in India.

According to the organisers, public safety and the broader situation surrounding the event were major considerations behind the decision.

“After months of planning and preparation for what was set to be one of the largest live productions ever staged in India, the safety and well-being of attendees and the citizens of India remain our highest priority during this sensitive time,” the statement read.

The organisers also thanked fans, crew members and partners who had supported the concert plans since the announcement.

Fans Disappointed Over Cancelled India Debut

The cancellation has disappointed thousands of fans who were eagerly waiting for Ye’s India debut performance. Social media platforms witnessed strong reactions from fans after the announcement became public.

The rapper enjoys a massive global fanbase and remains one of the most influential figures in contemporary hip-hop and music production.

Ye first gained major recognition in the early 2000s with his breakthrough track “Through the Wire” before releasing a series of commercially successful albums that helped redefine modern rap music.

Ye’s Global Music Influence

Over the years, Ye has delivered several internationally popular songs including “Bound 2,” “Hurricane,” and “Ni**as in Paris,” while also building a reputation for his experimental music style and controversial public appearances.

The cancelled Delhi concert had generated significant attention among Indian music fans and was expected to attract audiences from across the country.

No fresh dates or rescheduling details have been announced so far by the organisers.
