A fresh explosion late Tuesday night in Amritsar has heightened security concerns in Punjab, coming just hours after a separate blast in Jalandhar.
Explosion Near Sensitive Zone
The latest incident occurred in Khasa, a locality close to an Army-linked area. Police said a loud sound was reported around 11 pm, prompting immediate deployment of security teams. Initial findings suggest that an object was hurled toward a boundary wall, triggering the explosion.
No Casualties Reported
Authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties have been reported in the incident. However, the location’s proximity to a sensitive zone has raised concerns among officials.
Forensic Teams Begin Investigation
Teams from the forensic department and bomb disposal units were rushed to the site to examine evidence and determine the nature of the explosive material. Senior police officers, including local leadership, inspected the area as part of the ongoing probe.
Army Officials Also Visit Site
Officials from the Army also reached the location to assess the situation, given the blast occurred near a cantonment-linked area.
Second Incident in a Single Day
The Amritsar explosion follows an earlier blast reported outside a major security establishment in Jalandhar the same evening. The back-to-back incidents have prompted heightened vigilance across the state.
Security Agencies on Alert
With two explosions reported within hours, authorities are closely examining possible links and stepping up monitoring in key areas. Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause and identify those responsible.
