Voting for the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections continued across 142 constituencies in seven districts under heavy security deployment on Wednesday.
Security Personnel Step In to Control the Situation
As the crowd surrounded Adhikari, CRPF personnel and local police quickly intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further.
Officials carried out a mild lathicharge to disperse the crowd and restore order at the polling station. According to election officials, the situation was brought under control within minutes and voting resumed without any disruption.
Adhikari’s ‘Bangladeshi Muslims’ Remark Sparks Political Controversy
Following the incident, Suvendu Adhikari released a video statement in which he said, “They are all Bangladeshi Muslims… They are scared. Mamata will be wiped out.”
The controversial remark is expected to trigger strong political reactions as the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress remain locked in a fierce contest in the state.
